HUBBARD – Laura V. Alcorn, 101, died Saturday morning Nov. 13, 2010, at Liberty Health Care. She was born July 11, 1909, in Keystone, W. Va., a daughter of Edwin C. and June E. Goodheart Snyder and moved to Rural Valley, Pa., at the age of four, then lived in Poland for seven years, and New Middletown for 33 years, before coming to Hubbard. Mrs. Alcorn, attended the Indiana State Teachers College then became a teacher for the Armstrong County School System for 13 years, retiring in 1946. She was a member of the Eastern Star, the 5th Wheel, Hall Avenue Senior Citizens, and the Wednesday A.M. Card Club. Her husband, Charles W. Alcorn, whom she married Dec. 25, 1945, died May 11, 1986. She leaves one daughter, Linda E. (Frederick) West of Hubbard; two grandchildren, Michael (Colleen) Churn and Michelle (Robert) Lausev; five great-grandchildren, Darren, Blake, Alexandria, Annika and Ayla. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Edwin, and J.K. Snyder. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 8 p.m. at the Kelley-Robb Funeral Home. Family and friends may call on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Concord Presbyterian Cemetery in Dayton Pa.
