Dorothy Florence Reefer , 671 Spruce Ave., Sharon, passed away at 8:17 p.m. Thursday (8-1-13) in UPMC Horizon, Farrell, after complications from a stroke. She was 85. She was born Nov. 28, 1927, in Wilkinsburg, Pa., a daughter of Gourley James and Florence A. McGregor McLaughlin. Dorothy was a graduate of Kitanning High School. In her earlier years, Dorothy loved to sew. She had bowled in the Thursday Night Mixed League at Thornton Hall Lanes, Sharon. Dorothy was a member of South Pymatuning (Township) Community Church. She enjoyed being a homemaker and spending time with her family. On Dec. 17, 1949, she married Raymond Blair Reefer . He died Feb. 14, 1996. Survivng are: a daughter, Joyce E. Reefer , Sharon; a son, James B. Reefer and his wife, Janet, Sharpsville, two granddaughters, Courtney and Nicole Reefer ; and a grandson, Brady Reefer . Also surviving are a sister, Jean Boyer of Erie; several nieces and nephews; and her pet cat, Goofy. Besides her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Anna Mary Troutman; an infant brother; and her cat, Whacky.
