Rural Valley Bakery
Rural Valley Bakery, 1924.
From the 1990 Peoples National Bank calendar.
"The building that houses the present Rural Valley Bakery was the General Store of I. H. Foster until 1908 when it was purchased by H. W. Boyer who operated a Meat Market there until September of 1911. At this time the building and lot was purchased by Henry Soentgen, a German from Ford City who was a baker."In 1921, three Greeks, Sam Dimoff, Pete Stolshoff and Tom Christoff bought the building on Main Street where the Bakery stands today. When both of his partners died, Christoff and his wife became sole owners. The Christoffs taught their sons Mitch and Dan to be bakers. When their father died in 1974 the family business was expanded by son-in-law Tom Krizmanich. Today the Bakery is owned and managed by Tom Krizmanich and brothers Mitch and Dan Christoff. The photo shows the building, delivery trucks and the three original owners in 1924."
