Obituary of Olive Stockdale

Name of newspaper unknown

The Stockdale home at this place has been a sadly stricken one the past two weeks and the sympathy of the entire community is extended to the bereaved mother and son.

On Sunday morning Jan. 23rd at 3 o'clock a.m. Dr. T.F. Stockdale died of pneumonia and on Saturday morning Jan. 29th at 3:20 a.m. the daughter Anna Lou-Olive died of the same disease. She was confined to her bed only a week and was cared for by a trained nurse, during which time she received the best of medical attention.

The deceased was born Aug. 4th 1881 and died Jan. 29th 1916 aged 34 years, 5 months and 25 days.

Miss Olive will be greatly missed in the town as well as in the home for she was a quiet, lovable and devoted girl. She attended the local school during her early school days and later studied music in the Beaver College in which art she became very proficient and taught for several years. She was also organist in the Presbyterian church for ten and one half years.

She is survived by her mother and one brother, J.S., of Pittsburgh.

Funeral services were conducted at the home Monday afternoon by Rev. T.E. Duffield, assisted by Rev. W.H. Nevius and Rev. C.F. Gephart, followed by interment in the Rural Valley cemetery.
